Crack down on puppy mill in Missouri! February 19, 2011
by Melissa Emerson on 02/20/11
According to the Missouri Humane Society, they rescued 74 dogs. Mostly Collies, a handful are Bichon Frises and 31 are puppies. Some are in bad shape. They were living inside half of a double-wide trailer home on the property inside which were numerous wire crates with dogs and puppies living in their own waste. Carpeting in the trailer was soaked with urine and feces. The odor of ammonia overwhelmed officials when they first entered the premises. About 20 or 30 collies were outside living as a pack. Several sick, dehydrated, lethargic dogs and puppies were found. Rescuers believe little to no veterinary care had been provided to the animals. Very, very sad.
